Help needed - mums car being tracked
By ChillPanda905 · ISSUE · About iPhone 17 Pro
My mum has realised today that her car is being tracked by ‘HaveDeer LocaTag’ - she has an AirTag but it’s an apple product, this looks like a different brand. She receives this notification but once she leaves Find My, can find no trace of the tracker. When clicking ‘play sound’, she can’t hear anything inside or outside the car.
My mum is a foster carer who looks after vulnerable children so looking to get to the bottom of this asap!

FrostNinja842: If she goes to the local police station and state her concerns they will look over her car for her and find it.
StormVibe941: I'd be reporting this to the Police ASAP if she is a foster carer.
ShadowSpark326: Up until the very last sentence of your post, I had multiple solutions in mind, but the moment I read that she is a foster parent for vulnerable children, everything except going straight to the police dropped off the list of options. This is not just about her; this is about the children she's tryi
SwiftOrbit917: Police is a good option. I would guess it’s hidden under the car too, so may be beneficial to jack it up to look or maybe throw some money at a mechanic to look for it on a lift
HappyFox759: Would probably confirm if any of the vulnerable kids she looks after have tags before panicking.
I’ve had a friend’s AirTag alert on my phone 2-3 hours after I was near their AirTag-it’s not always an instantaneous alert.
