am i the only one that CANNOT use the reminders app??

like i legit never get reminded of my so called “reminders”?? or am i misunderstanding the whole concept here? if i’m not mistaken, my phone should be ABLE to ALERT ME about my REMINDERS. no???
someone explain it to me if i’ve gotten it all wrong, or if there r better 3rd party apps to use out there please lemme know

ChillScout586: Make sure your notification settings for reminders are in check. If you set a due date, it’ll remind you on that day at 9am, if you set a time it’ll alert you then.

I set reminders with Siri like: remind me to call my dad when I get home
Or: remind me to send an email to my boss about invoice when i get to work
And I get a notification when i get home or to work
Or I’ll manually set a timed reminder for things.
HappyFox759: I use Alarmed for all my reminders. I don’t like the Reminders app.
