Zoko API keeps timing out during peak hours — anyone else?

We've been using Zoko's API for automated order confirmations and the thing keeps timing out during peak hours (evenings IST). Our customers aren't getting their order confirmations for 30-60 minutes sometimes. Support says they're 'working on scaling' but this has been going on for 2 months. For a product that charges per conversation, the reliability needs to be better.
