Apple Pay after 1 year — long term review

One year in with Apple Pay and I wanted to give an update. It's held up remarkably well with daily use. No significant degradation in performance or build quality. The software updates have actually made it better over time. This is genuinely a buy-it-for-life product in my experience.
Known Issues
Apple Pay performance degraded significantly
My Apple Pay has gotten noticeably slower over the past few weeks. Tasks that used to be instant now take several seconds. I've tried all the usual troubleshooting steps. Starting to wonder if this is planned obsolescence or just a buggy update.
